Welcome to the State of Jefferson

We had a BLAST at the end of the 2011 winter and were involved with a little TV production - A small group of us from The State of Jefferson managed to get on TV!! We were on the History Channel's show "How the States got their Shapes." - Click here History Channel - How the States Got Their Shapes to see their website. Our Episode is called Culture Clash. Our segment of this episode is in the first 10 minutes of the show! Rock ON State of Jefferson! You can catch it on Youtube How the States Got Their Shapes - State of Jefferson.

Go ahead and click on our Publication tab (at left) for PDF versions of the prior year's paper publications which are distributed all over beautiful and rugged Siskiyou County, the Very Heart of The State of Jefferson. Lots of cool stories, history and fun places and businesses to read about. Thank you for coming to our website!

There is so much wonderful adventure in The State of Jefferson. We want to share our stories of all that there is to do and see in this historic and rugged part of our great U S of A.

When you see the maps on this website, you will get an idea of what the Mythical State of Jefferson boundaries of California and Oregon counties were projected to be, even until the early 1940s. We have decided to join the "cause" and do our best to keep the adventure and history of The State of Jefferson ALIVE.

Thank goodness we still have so many nice little restaurants, businesses, shops, inns, farms & ranches, and even Family Dude Ranches in our beautiful piece of Rural America. Our quality Mom & Pop Shops are the true sign of The American Dream still living on even in these tough economic times. In this day and age, isn’t it nice to remember our roots and just get back to the basics? Isn’t that what America was founded on anyway? Independent unique ideas and ventures!

Thomas Jefferson was the Third President of the United States. He was also the principal author of The Declaration of Independence. He had some amazing influence and impact on the early forming of The United States of America. It is quite fitting that The State of Jefferson has such a strong and positive foundational name! America needs to get back to the way our forefathers intended.

We will always strive to bring you happy, positive information, history and articles in the pages of our Jefferson Backroads Publication and Website. There is nothing better than those days when we get away from the chaotic highways of life and really slow down to enjoy and explore ALL the beautiful backroads . . . Welcome Home!
